Back on Track

So I have been having so much fun using my new torch. It is amazing how easy creating can be when you have wonderful equipment to use. I am able to work faster, obtain great colors and also create larger beads. I have been busy these past two weekends creating hearts and mushrooms as well as making some necklaces and earrings with these new glass creations. I have uploaded some of the jewelry to the beads and bags etsy store which I have been meaning to do for quite some time. Here are some images of the creations I have made.

From the Heart

So I have not written a post in a very long time.  I have been busy coming up with new ideas and trying to work on different color schemes.  My inspiration for any kind of art always comes from nature.  Whether it be the colors of flowers or the cloud patterns in the sky I always seem to see something that can be created from its beauty.  Now that we have moved almost into summer everything seems so alive and full of color which has inspired my creative mind.  I have uploaded some new imaged to the gallery but here are just a few beads that I have been working on.

Weekend Creations

At the end of the weekend I really love to take all the beads that I have created and bunch them together.  To me it is like being a kid in a candy store.  I get to look and inspect each one and think about the project ideas, glass reactions and color.  I sometimes pack them in a box so that I can share them with others and it is always interesting to see there response.  It is almost as if they have a hypnotizing effect on all ages and it is quite fascinating to see which beads people are most drawn too.  With that being said I have pull out a few that I will be working with this week.  This first bead I have already started to match the seed beads and am working on a beading weaving pattern to create a necklace.  Check back for updates later this week for the finished result.

Necklace Complete

When working with such small beads and actually weaving a pattern you tend to lose track of time. This allows you the opportunity to concentrate on one thing which is very rare in our hectic daily lives. For the past three evenings I have been working on this necklace which I have finished.  My next step are the earrings.

Bead Weaving Creation

When I have the time between my day job and managing my personal affairs I like to sit in my craft room and get inspired to create.  Last evening was one of those moments.  There is really no rhyme or reason to my creations it is just the inspiration of the moment.  I created this focal bead a couple of weeks back and I have not been inspired until now.

So I started and this was my idea for this piece.  I wanted to incorperate a bead weaving in this piece so I decided to use a netting stitch with Rocailles seed bead colors Fancy Rain Bow Brown and Fancy Sky Blue.  This will take some time to finish because it is small detailed work, but I love it.  I also love the way this bead weave feels when it is complete.  I will keep the post updated as I procede but I am thinking by the end of the week I will be done with at least the necklace.  Maybe I will be able to squeeze the earrings in as well.

This is a close up shot of the focal bead.  The base is a sandy brown with raku class dots melted down.  I then placed clear glass dots and left them raised for the effect of morning dew.  This time of year we typically have very heavy fog and dew drops early in the morning and this was my inspiration.

I just wanted to include this last photo to show a close up of the netting stitch.

Check back for updates for this post and the further development of this site.

Thanks for stopping by.
